Consulting

Through my work with the accessibility consulting firms Left Turn Right Turn and Untapped Accessibility, I worked with private and public sector companies to enhance their accessibility practices and support their implementation of the Accessible Canada Act (ACA).
This included analyzing company policies and assessing how they comply with the ACA, consulting with employees and stakeholders with disabilities through interviews and surveys, as well as analyzing survey data for accessibility barriers.
I also co-developed ACA-compliant Accessibility Plans for clients.
Academic Accommodations and Accessibility Services
Having worked in higher education in accessibility services, I supported students with various disabilities, identified their needs and set up individual accommodation plans, and advocated for their academic success. This also included liaising with professors in the implementation of accommodations and advocating for student needs. I also developed and led workshops on accessibility for students, professors and academic staff. Workshop topics included disability advocacy, how students can request accommodations, the duty to accommodate and accessibility legislation.
Writing on Disability and Accessibility
As a freelance and journalist, I used my storytelling chops to communicate authentic experiences with disability by writing about my own lived experiences. I’ve written about disability and accessibility for media outlets including The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star, SUCCESS magazine, Broad Street Review and more.
I’m in the process of writing my inaugural non-fiction book on disability and employment, with the goal of providing an authentic view on what disability looks like in the workplace.
